regenerating east gippsland
In the wake of the 2020 bush fires that devastated communities, habitats and wildlife, Sanctuary E.G. was formed to assist in the recovery of the region and help revitalize its tourism economy. Our vision is to secure and promote E.G’s unique culture and spectacular natural assets, creating a better, safer and more prosperous future; one that is good for the sustainability of our communities and for our environment.

with co-design principles
As a co-design lab Sanctuary E.G. will connect and engage local communities as grass-roots change-makers. By recruiting industry professionals, leading academics & innovative design creatives and applying sustainable design principles, we shall identify specific recovery needs as well as future growth & development opportunities. Forums & in-field workshops will be tailored to achieve outcomes that create new jobs whilst preserving E.G’s environmental assets for future generations.

& an eco-cultural philosophy
We are connected to the natural world, not only by our enjoyment of it but also by our cultural expression of it. Recognizing this, Eco-Cultural-Tourism has been one of the fastest growing sectors of the global tourism market. By connecting & showcasing E.G’s world-class biodiversity, along with its vibrant culture, First Nation heritage, ecological research & creative artists & producers, communities can grow the region as an Eco-Cultural-Tourism destination.
